Sustainability starts with how long something lasts. A Kairos sofa is made to last a lifetime: the covers are washable, the cushions refillable, and every part can be maintained, repaired or replaced. We produce entirely in the Netherlands, to order.
Made in the Netherlands, to order
Most furniture is made in the Far East, in stock, and reaches your home through distribution centres and showrooms. Kairos sources materials locally, mostly natural and recycled, produces only once you order, in the Netherlands, and delivers straight to your home. Delivery within the Netherlands is free.
Repair instead of replace
In most sofas every material is glued or stapled together. When something breaks, repair often isn't worth it and the sofa's life is over. A Kairos sofa is built differently: the steel frame is made of separate parts joined with hex bolts. No glue, no staples.
You replace a seat cushion yourself: unzip, swap the cushion, zip up. Back cushions filled with Dutch sheep's wool can be plumped up or refilled. And the covers simply go in the wash.

Modular: your sofa moves with you
More than half of the second-hand sofas for sale are "as good as new". They're discarded because the colour no longer fits, or because the left-hand corner sofa has to be a right-hand one after a move. A Kairos sofa is made of separate modules: extend a straight sofa into a corner sofa later, or rearrange it after a move.
At the end: back as raw material
Every Kairos sofa carries a QR code linked to a materials passport: its age and materials, useful if you sell it on. If you can't find a new owner, we buy your sofa back for a modest amount, a kind of deposit for furniture. Frame, wool and upholstery then get a new life, part by part.
