Kairos Furniture B.V. decides why and how the data described here is processed, and is the controller for it under the GDPR.

What we do with personal data beyond cookies is set out in our privacy policy.

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device through your browser, so the site can recognise that device on a later visit. We use the word here for the whole family of techniques that read or write something on your device, including the scripts and embedded frames that come with them. Some are placed by us; others by the companies whose services run on parts of this site.

On your first visit we ask what we may use. Until you answer, only the necessary cookies are set — nothing for analytics, nothing for advertising. You can accept everything, refuse everything, or choose per category. Refusing takes one click, in the same place and at the same size as accepting.

We record your answer in a cookie called kairos_consent and keep it for six months, after which we ask again. We also ask again whenever we change what we use, so an old answer is never carried over to something new.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, and it is meant to be no harder than giving it was. Every page of this site has a Cookie settings link at the bottom. It re-opens the same panel with your current choice filled in, so you can switch a category off, or refuse everything, and save. The change takes effect immediately — you do not need to reload.

Withdrawing stops the measurement from continuing. It does not undo what already happened while your consent was in force, which remains lawful.

Worth spelling out, because it is not what most cookie banners imply. Refusing does not stop Google's tag from loading. It loads with every kind of storage switched off, so it writes no cookies and cannot recognise your device on a later visit. It does still send Google a signal that a page was viewed. That signal carries no cookie and no identifier tying your visits together — only technical data such as your IP address, which Google states it does not store for visitors from Europe. Google uses those signals to estimate totals it is not permitted to observe.

Everything not covered by that mechanism — Mux's playback measurement, Calendly, Stripe — is simply not loaded at all until you allow it.

These make the shop work. Dutch telecommunications law exempts them from consent, so we do not ask for it — but we do tell you they are there. All four are ours, set on kairosfurniture.com, and read by no one else.

• _medusa_cart_id — links your browser to your shopping cart. 7 days.
• _medusa_jwt — keeps you signed in to your account. 7 days.
• _medusa_cache_id — serves you the right cached version of a page. 1 day.
• kairos_consent — remembers the answer you gave in the banner. 6 months.

These show us which pages and products people use, so we can improve them. We read patterns, not individuals.

• _ga — Google. Tells one visitor apart from another, and is shared by the Google services below. 400 days.
• _ga_<ID> — Google. Holds the state of your visit; one for each Google service our tag reports to. On this site that is Google Analytics, and Google Merchant Center, which connects our product listings to what happens here after a click. 400 days.
• muxData — Mux. Measures whether the videos on our pages actually play smoothly. Set only once a video starts. 1 year.

These let us see whether our advertising works.

• _gcl_au — Google Ads. Lets an order you place later be attributed to the advertisement you arrived from. 90 days.
• _gcl_aw — Google Ads. Stores the identifier attached to the specific ad you clicked. Only set if you actually reached us through an advertisement. 90 days.

The calendar on our advice page is provided by Calendly, which in turn loads Stripe. If you allowed marketing cookies it loads straight away. If you did not, it does not load at all: you see a notice and a button, and nothing reaches Calendly or Stripe until you press it.

• __cf_bm (calendly.com) — Cloudflare. Tells human visitors from automated ones. 30 minutes.
• _cfuvid (calendly.com) — Cloudflare. Supports the same check for the length of your visit.
• m (m.stripe.com) — Stripe. Fraud prevention. 400 days.

The configurator on our configurator page is an application built by Productbuilder and shown inside a frame. It is the purpose of that page, so it starts as soon as you open it. Doing so loads their application, its material images and the public code libraries it depends on from their servers, which means those companies receive your IP address and browser details. We observed no cookies of their own. If you would rather they did not, do not open that page.

Payments run through Mollie. Mollie's script loads on the checkout page only, at the moment you pay, and only to complete that payment securely. It is not optional: without it there is no way to pay.

The videos on our pages are hosted by Mux and streamed from their servers, so Mux receives your IP address when a video loads. That part is needed to show the video at all. Measuring how well it played — the muxData cookie above — happens only if you allowed analytics.

Worth stating plainly, because an earlier version of this page claimed otherwise. This site carries no tracking from Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Microsoft or Bing, no advertising network other than Google, and no social media buttons that load code from those platforms. The links to our social profiles are ordinary links: following one takes you to that platform, where their own policy applies, but nothing is sent to them while you are here.

Google, Mux, Calendly, Stripe, Cloudflare and Mollie process data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Several of them are established in the United States and may process data there. Where the company is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework we rely on that; otherwise we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. The United States does not offer a level of protection equivalent to the EU, and refusing the optional categories keeps all of that processing from taking place.

What each company then does on its own systems is set out in its own statement: Google, Mux, Calendly, Stripe, Cloudflare, Mollie.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to build a profile of you outside the advertising measurement described above.

For the necessary cookies we rely on the exemption in article 11.7 of the Dutch Telecommunications Act: they are strictly needed to deliver the service you asked for. The processing that follows rests on performing our agreement with you and on our legitimate interest in a shop that works and is not defrauded.

Everything else — analytics, marketing and the third-party services above — rests on your consent under article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You are never obliged to give it. Refusing costs you nothing except the features that genuinely depend on the service in question.

Each cookie's lifetime is listed beside it above, and that is how long it stays on your device unless you delete it sooner. A cookie that says “session” disappears when you close your browser. How long each service keeps what it received on its own systems is governed by its statement, linked above.

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or erased, restrict what we do with it, receive it in a portable form, and object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Where we rely on your consent you may withdraw it at any time, as described above, without affecting what was lawful before you did.

Email info@kairosfurniture.com and we will reply within one month. To be sure the request comes from you we may ask for proof of identity; please black out your photo, document number, citizen service number and the machine-readable strip. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you have the right to complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Every browser lets you view, delete and block cookies; the exact steps are in your browser's help pages. Blocking everything will break parts of the shop — your cart will not survive moving between pages, and you will not be able to stay signed in. Advertising cookies placed by other companies can also be removed through Your Online Choices.

We update this page whenever we add or remove something that touches your device. When a change affects what we ask your permission for, the banner returns so you can answer again rather than having an old answer applied to something new.
